Amelanchier grandiflora 'Princess Diana', also known as Princess Diana Serviceberry, is a deciduous shrub or small tree that is a hybrid between two North American species, Amelanchier canadensis and Amelanchier laevis. It typically grows up to 15-20 feet tall and 10-15 feet wide, with a rounded shape and a dense canopy of dark green leaves. In early spring, it produces an abundance of showy white flowers that cover the branches before the leaves emerge, creating a stunning display. The flowers are followed by small edible red-purple berries in the summer that attract birds and other wildlife. In the fall, the leaves turn shades of orange and red before falling off, adding to the tree's year-round appeal. 'Princess Diana' is a relatively low-maintenance plant that is tolerant of a wide range of soil types and can grow in full sun to partial shade.
