Skyrocket Eastern Red Cedar
Skyrocket Eastern Red Cedar (Juniperus virginiana 'Skyrocket') is a tall, narrow evergreen tree with a distinctive columnar shape. It is a cultivar of the native Eastern Red Cedar and is prized for its slender, upright growth habit. The tree can reach a height of 15 to 20 feet with a width of only 2 to 3 feet, making it an ideal choice for tight spaces or vertical accents in the landscape. The foliage of Skyrocket Juniper is dense and rich green, creating a vibrant backdrop throughout the year. It features scale-like leaves that are soft to the touch. This juniper variety is low-maintenance and adaptable, thriving in a variety of soil conditions and tolerating drought once established. It prefers full sun to partial shade and is commonly used as a specimen tree, privacy screen, or windbreak. Skyrocket Eastern Red Cedar is also known for its aromatic wood and provides habitat and food for birds and other wildlife.
