Gold Flame Spirea
Gold Flame Spirea (Spiraea bumalda 'Gold Flame') is a compact deciduous shrub known for its vibrant and ever-changing foliage colors. In the spring, the new leaves emerge with shades of reddish-orange and bronze, creating a fiery display. As the season progresses, the foliage transitions to bright green during the summer, adorned with clusters of pink flowers that attract pollinators. By the fall, the leaves turn a brilliant orange-red, providing a final burst of color before winter. Gold Flame Spirea typically reaches a height of around 2 to 3 feet and spreads to a similar width, making it an excellent choice for border plantings, foundation plantings, or mixed shrub beds. It's a relatively low-maintenance shrub that can thrive in a variety of garden settings.
