Swamp Azalea
Swamp Azalea (Rhododendron viscosum) is a deciduous shrub that is native to wetlands and swamps in eastern North America. It typically grows to a height of 3-6 feet and produces fragrant, white to pale pink flowers in late spring or early summer. The flowers are funnel-shaped and have protruding stamens, adding to their visual appeal. Swamp Azalea has dark green leaves that turn a lovely reddish-purple in the fall, making it an excellent choice for seasonal interest in the landscape. It prefers moist to wet, acidic soil and full sun to partial shade, and it is also attractive to bees and other pollinators. This hardy shrub is a great addition to a naturalized or woodland garden or as an accent in a water garden.
