Gaillardia
Gaillardia, commonly called blanket flower, delivers months of warm, daisy-like color that draws bees and butterflies and often shows good drought tolerance once established. Plants thrive in full sun and lean, well drained soil, with minimal fertilizer to keep stems sturdy and blooms prolific. Deadhead or shear after the first flush to extend flowering, and refresh clumps every few years if they grow woody, since some selections are short lived and may self-sow. Tuck compact forms along paths and in containers, weave medium types through meadows and mixed borders, and place a vibrant clump near a patio or entry as a bright focal point that asks for little care.
